Aldila’s RIP helps drive Portugal Masters champ to first pro win on European Tour

Benefitting from the distance and accuracy of Aldila’s RIP shaft in his driver, the winner of the Portugal Masters picked up his first professional win on the European Tour. For the tournament he averaged more than 302 yards in driving distance and finished in the Top 15 in distance and accuracy. His first professional win earned him as spot in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. As an amateur he won the 3 Irish Open in 2009 becoming the first European Tour player to win on the Tour as an amateur and a professional.
“The Hottest Shafts In Golf” also captured the wood and hybrid shaft manufacturer counts on the PGA Tour. At the Frys.com Open. Aldila had 18 more wood and 13 more hybrid shafts in play than their closest competitor, according to the Darrell Survey. It marked the 37th time this season Aldila has won the wood shaft manufacturer count and the 38th time Aldila has captured the hybrid shaft manufacturer count on the PGA Tour.
Aldila’s leading shaft, the RIP (Reverse Interlaminar Placement), continues to be deadly long and accurate on the Tours. The longest driver at the Miccosukee Championship played Aldila’s RIP Beta 70 shaft in his driver. He turned in driving distances of more than 300 yards each round to finish with a Total Driving Distance average of 312 yards for the tournament. Also, three of the Top Five Most Accurate Drivers at the Miccosukee Championship also played Aldila shafts in their drivers.
On the PGA Tour, three of the Top Five longest drivers at the Frys.com Open played Aldila’s RIP shafts in their drivers as well. Two played Aldila’s latest shaft, the RIP Phenom, and the other the RIP’d NV. Aldila was just as accurate on the PGA Tour with two of the Top Five Most Accurate drivers playing Aldila’s RIP Technology in their drivers.
“RIP Technology repositions the materials and patterns to optimize the performance characteristics of the shaft,” said Stewart Bahl, Aldila’s Marketing Manager. “The Phenom’s Hyperbolic Flex Zone provides a stiff tip section for optimal launch and spin control, with a very firm butt section for an incredibly stable feel. The center section of the shaft is softer to provide outstanding kick through impact to maximize ball speed.
“Through the use of a Hyperbolic Flex Zone, the RIP Phenom incorporates the same flex, torque and feel properties that have made the original RIP the leading shaft on the PGA Tour, with a flex profile to achieve unparalleled performance and launch characteristics for better players,” he said.
